1. What platforms do you support? Is there a
MacIntosh, Unix, Linux version of your programs?
Our products support Windows/Intel compatible PC systems. We do not
have versions for Unix, Linux, or MacIntosh and we currently have no
plans to develop them.
2. What operating systems do your products support?
All of our programs support Microsoft-supported Windows operating
systems based on 32-bit or 64-bit architecture. This includes
Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0+, Windows XP, Vista, Windows 10, and
newer. But not Mac, DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups,
Windows NT 3.5, or Windows CE, Windows 95.
3. What languages and fonts are compatible?
Our products are used by people in most every country. The programs
are available only in English, but many other languages can be used in
diagrams. Most standard TrueType fonts are supported. However, as of
versions 6.0, unicode and multi-byte fonts are not supported. However,
version 6.0 supports multiple character sets (font scripts) and the ability
to select a local font script. In addition, you can assign a font
with a font script to any symbol, thereby mixing font scripts when needed.
Standard keyboard entry can be used for many non-English characters
such as accents, umlauts, and so on.
Pacestar products DO NOT yet support multibyte (MBCS) or Unicode
fonts. These include most eastern language fonts such as Japanese,
Chinese, and Korean. We are working to add
support for all international fonts as soon as possible.
4. What printers do you support?
All of our programs support most any printer that has a Windows
driver. We interface to printers using only the standard Windows
mechanisms so no special requirements are imposed on the printer
drivers. This means that you can use laser printers, color inkjet
printers, older dot-matrix printers, plotters, and so on from any
manufacturer and with most or all paper sizes supported by the
printers.
From time to time we discover a printer driver that is
incompatible with our software but we attempt to resolve these
problems quickly. In many cases, apparent printer incompatibilities
are caused by outdated printer drivers. If you should discover an
apparent printer incompatibility, first visit the web page of the
printer manufacturer to upgrade to the latest driver. If the problem
does not disappear please report it so that we can investigate.
5. Is there any software that is known to be
incompatible with your products?
The only program we know of that is incompatible with our
products is WindowBlinds by Stardoc. With WindowBlinds in use
our programs can crash when a drop menu button is pressed.
